Kris! Thanks so much for the comment on my post about moving to Austin. I am so excited about it! I LOVE BBQ! And I really can't wait to find all the good stuff the locals know about. I wish you were there too. How far away is Fort Worth? Come to visit and you can show me around the state :)
Did I answer your questions from my photo blog? Sorry if I didn't! I forgot! I think you asked about the black background and how I got the color on my couple pics... the desaturated ones?
The black background... I just used a black sheet and pinned it up on the wall next to a window that brought in a lot of light. I used a bean bag underneath the baby so that I could form her however I wanted. I also put a heating pad under her to keep her warm and alseep. Then, when I edited the pics, I just "burned in" the light spots on the black background. There were just a few. I lightened the skin a little and that's about it.
For the desaturated look, I use an "action" from the Pioneer Woman. Have you been to her site? If not, her link is down at the bottom of the list called The Pioneer Woman. She is amazing. I think she has made a few actions that work in Elements. They are all free too! Try downloading it and see if it works.
