Ryan got together with some other guys from church and ran a team 1 mile race. The had to each run the mile as fast as they could. They didn't win, but had fun doing it and we all had fun watching and eating the free ice cream, power bars and chocolate milk!

Recipes again....
So I realized today that I keep posting new recipes and had the thought... "Maybe I should make a food blog". Then I thought again about all the work to do that and decided maybe I will wait. So, for now, you get to read my recipes in between everything else!
My most recent experiment was Egg Rolls and Sesame Chicken for dinner tonight. The sesame chicken was good, but the Egg Rolls were a flop. So, if you have a good recipe for Egg Rolls, PLEASE let me know! Or, anything else good that has cabbage in it. I have a head of cabbage someone gave Ryan that I was trying to find something to make with it, and making the egg rolls didn't use enough. Here is the link for the sesame chicken. We had it over Rice. It didn't have as much flavor as I thought after marinating for 3 hours, but it was still good.
Another recipe, thanks to Genn, was Chocolate Cake in a mug. I tried it a few weeks ago and it turned out pretty well. I topped it with whip cream and raspberries. There are chocolate chips in it and they all sank to the bottom of the mug. So, next time I think as soon as I pull it out of the mug, I will turn it upside down to see if some of the chocolate moves to the other end of the cake. All in all, it was pretty good for a 5 minute chocolate cake!
Here's the recipe:
5 MINUTE CHOCOLATE MUG CAKE Pour in the milk and oil and mix well.. Add the chocolate chips (if using) and vanilla extract, and mix again. The cake will rise over the top of the mug, but don't be alarmed! Allow to cool a little, and tip out onto a plate if desired. |

Happy 5th!
Today is our five year anniversary! It has been five very busy years of school, two kids, moving and starting a business. It feels like just yesterday we were married, but also seems like so long ago that we were newlyweds with no cares in the world and less responsibility. Kind of miss those days sometimes! I wouldn't take back anything we have done though these past years and I love Ryan more now than I did when we were married. He is such a hard worker and is such a great Dad and husband. I LOVE YOU!!

Idaho Falls/Teton Dam Marathon Relay

We went to Idaho Falls last weekend so that Ryan could be on the Alumni team of BYU-I for the Teton Dam Marathon relay. We had fun hanging out with Ryan's parents, his sis. and her family, walked by and fed the geese on the greenbelt by the temple, visited Aunts and Uncles and their terrific horses (Which the kids enjoyed thoroughly, although Pres wouldn't do anything more than look at them and help pull Ma around on them. And it looks like we are going to have to get Ma a horse. She wouldn't get off!!) and enjoyed the beautiful scenery of that side of the state. I was once again reminded though that I am so glad we live over here in Boise. I.F. is too cold and windy for me. Love to visit though! It was so good to see everyone!

Want a yummy recipe?
So I tried a new recipe and loved it! It was really easy and quick. I made some changes though. It calls for shrimp, I substituted chicken. It called for seasoning it with fresh Basil, which I am not a big fan of, so I seasoned it with salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning. It isn't the most healthy recipe I have ever made, but super good in a pinch for something quick to make. Click here for creamy shrimp and tomato chowder.
Oh, and it calls for wedges of foccacia bread, but I dipped rosemary olive oil bread and that was delicious!

The consequences of potty training while camping
Pres did really well while we were camping with potty training. He only had one accident. YEAH! But, he got used to being able to pull down his underwear and go anywhere. The other day when he and Ma were outside playing in the sprinklers, Pres came in and wanted us to pull down his underwear but wouldn't let us take him potty. He proceeds to run outside completely naked and peed right there on our back lawn. AHH! Thank goodness no one was driving by at the time! Oh the joys of boys...
Anderson Rach camping

We went to Anderson Ranch this past Thurs-Sat. and met Ryan's parents there. We had fun exploring, soaking up the warm sunshine, enjoying the beautiful scenery, playing in the incredibly dirty water (but hey, it kept them busy and happy! and obviously I forgot to pack the swimsuits!) and spending time with G & G. Pres got to try his hand at fishing with the new pole Grandpa got him. Thanks again! Don't you just love Pres' outfits? Hey, the rain boots are great as fishing boots. Thanks Mom and Dad!
