Our Dear Grandma

My dear Grandma passed away last week . She lived a great life. She was so musically talented and had such a great voice. She and my Grandpa used to sing together. Grandma was always pulling out her instruments for us grandkids to play every time we came over. She was so sweet and was always thinking of everyone else. We love you Grandma and will miss you! I am so grateful though for the knowledge that I will be able to see her on the other side with our Grandpa.

Maurine Francis Malmberg

1924 ~ 2009

Maurine Francis Malmberg, 84, died Monday, March 30, 2009, in Orem, Utah. She was born July 22, 1924 in Lakeshore, Utah, to Samuel Evan and Barbara Ferguson Francis. She married Emil A.F. Malmberg, Jr. December 7, 1943 in Salt Lake City, Utah. He passed away November 29,1998.

Maurine graduated from Springville High School and attended BYU for a year then attending Foothill College. She really loved and enjoyed music and performed with various groups in California and Utah. She collected old sheet music and taught music in school. Her various interests included writing, poetry, history, art, dancing, and travel. She loved the mountains and enjoyed nature, and was involved in humanitarian aid with Deseret Industries putting together aid packets.She served a genealogy mission in Salt Lake City and worked as a tour guide at the Conference Center. Keeping up with her family was very important to her. She has been a temple worker for many years.

She is survived by her children: Denise Larsen, Payson; Robert Malmberg, Westminster, California; Karen Taylor, Kechi, Kansas; Richard Malmberg, North Richland Hills, Texas; Alan Malmberg, Flower Mound, Texas and Gary Malmberg, Mesa, Arizona. She is also survived by 23 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren, 4 brothers: Reed Francis, Rulon Francis, Samuel Francis, Evan Francis and 3 sisters: Lila Madsen, Marian Tenney and Carol Loveless. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister, Deon Francis, and 2 brothers, Marvin & Rell Francis.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, April 3, 2009, at Cascade Stake Center, 481 East Center Street, Orem, Utah. Family and friends may call from 11:45-12:45 p.m. prior to the services at the church. Interment will be held at the Spanish Fork City Cemetery.

Thank goodness for pots, pans, collanders, etc... They are not just good for cooking, but for entertaining kids while Mom is making dinner, lunch, breakfast (you get the picture). My kids not only like to play with the dishes, but lately they like to pull all of them out from the lazy susan and climb in. AHH! One of these days, they are going to get stuck! Both of the kids just decided to lay down flat on the kitchen floor and just started laughing and playing with eachother. It was so fun to watch.

Well, our life lately has been busy trying to get the office ready to open. I have been busy picking up furniture, decorations (yeah, uh oh... me... decorating??!!), etc, Ryan has been busy with painting, all the legal stuff of setting up a business, and much more. Thanks to Mom and Dad G. for coming over and watching the kids and for helping paint and thank you Greg for helping Ryan with the counters and cabinets, and it was great to see Becky and the kids! Thanks everyone for all their help. Here are a couple pics of the front of the office and the kids enjoying the ladder and "helping" paint. Oh, and do you like Dad's art work? He tried to write R + K = heart, but it was a little tricky with a roller brush. :)

Seattle!

Ryan had a seminar in Seattle for a piece of equipment he is going to use in his practice, so we decided to tag along and spend some quality time with Uncle Justin, Aunt Carol and Avery.  The kids had a blast playing together, but I think A. was ready to have her toys and her bedroom all to herself again.  Thanks for being such a great sport!  We had fun touring the area where the boats come in, walking in Pike's Place Market, playing with the crazy squirrels in the botanical gardens (one crawled up Ryan's leg to try to get our cheetos and one took a cheeto right out of his hand!!), celebrating Avery's birthday playing outside in the green grass, and eating YUMMY fresh crab!  Thanks for letting us stay with you guys!

Brag post

Ryan surprised me with some flowers the other week so I thought I would show you how pretty they are and brag about what a great husband I have.  He is so patient with me and is working so hard at getting his business up and running.  It is taking more time and energy and there are lots of little things that we didn't realize.  But, it will be well worth it in the end.  Preston had fun checking out my flowers and I had fun with the camera in taking some different pics.  Anyway... I have a GREAT HUSBAND!! :)

Here are a couple pictures of our typical Mikayla.  She is such a drama queen and Preston is our lovable ball of energy.  He has been such a good big brother lately and is trying to play more with her and love on her.  Although she does not quite like it all the time as you can see.  Ma has been into us wrapping her in her blanket.  So thanks again Mom for helping me make it!  She is starting to talk more finally!  Mom, I think you were right saying she has 2nd child syndrome - Preston talks for her!  Mikayla is getting into reading books, but only by herself and she loves to read the books in the dryer!  Preston is into singing lately and sings itsy bitsy spider, rock a bye baby and Jesus wants me for a Sunbeam, all with LOTS of energy and enthusiasm.  It is so cute!

Valentine's Day

For Valentine's Day, Ryan and I got out for a quick bite to eat.  While there we met up with Ryan's parents who drove in from Idaho Falls as soon as Ryan's Dad heard that Boise State was playing Utah State that night.  So Ryan's Mom stayed with the kids while Ryan, Dad and I went to the game.  It was fun to get out and I think more fun to be there than to watch it on TV.  Unfortunately Utah State lost, but still an enjoyable time out.  Later that night we had fun watching Mom and Dad box on the Wii.  The next day we enjoyed having Ryan's brother, Troy, and his wife, Dani, over for a couple days to hang out.  Hope it was a good escape from Rexburg for you guys!  Thanks for visiting!
